Consider Installing an Air Cleaner This Spring
Spring is here, and with it comes a number of changes, especially to your indoor air quality. Pollen counts are going to increase, which will likely play havoc with any allergies you have. Airborne contaminants in general are going to become more of a problem, as we move closer to the summer season. So, if you want to stay healthy and comfortable this year it’s a good idea to install an air cleaner in your home. Let’s take a look at some of the popular air cleaner types available on the market.
Air Filters
An air filter is pretty simple, just a fiber mesh stretched across part of the ducts. As air flows through the filter, any contaminants it carries with it will become snared in the fibers. Then, the filter just needs to be removed and cleaned every couple of months in order to keep it functioning properly.
Ionization Filters
Ionization filters operate by releasing clouds of magnetized particles. As contaminants come into contact with these particles, they gain their own magnetic charge. The charged contaminants are then attracted to metal plates in the purifier, which collect them for later disposal. Ionization purifiers are quite good at attracting a large number of contaminants due to this method.
UV Air Purifier
UV air purifiers don’t actually remove contaminants from the air in your home. Instead, they put out higher than normal amounts of ultraviolet radiation. When germs and other bio-infectious contaminants come into contact with UV light, they are either sterilized or killed. A UV air purifier helps keep you healthy by lowering the chances of you getting infected by viruses or mold spores.
