Why You Should Install a Ductless System This Winter

Believe it or not, we’re quickly moving through fall and winter is right around the corner. Now is the time to make sure that your home is ready for the heating season. If you’re looking for a new heating system before the weather really starts to get cold, you should have a look at what a ductless mini split can offer you. Read on to find out more about ductless mini splits, and the advantages that they can provide.

Ductless Mini Splits

A ductless mini split is a heat pump, which means it evaporates and condenses refrigerant to move heat from one place to the other. Like all heat pumps, a ductless heating system can act as both a heater and an air conditioner depending on the needs of the home.

Unlike other heat pumps, though, a ductless system doesn’t rely on ducts to distribute air. Instead, a set of air handlers is installed throughout the house. One air handler is installed in each room that is to receive conditioning, with up to four of these units connected to a single outside unit.

While in heating mode, the outside unit evaporates refrigerant to absorb heat from the surrounding air. The collected heat is then vented through the air handlers inside. Each air handler has its own attached thermostat, which allows it to operate separately from the rest of the system.

The Benefits of Ductless Mini Splits

Ductless heating systems are among the most energy efficient heating system types on the market. They don’t have to burn fuel to generate heat, they don’t have to worry about duct leaks, and they allow you to set the ideal temperature for each part of your home. These are just a few of the many benefits to using a ductless mini split.
